Biography

1782     studies at the "Paedagogium" at Niesky (now Lausitz)

1785     enters the theological seminary at Magdeburg

1788     graduates, teaches school

1789     teaches at the Paedagogium

1796     teaches at the theological seminary of the Moravian Brotherhood in Niesky

1804     becomes inspector of the seminary, and pastor in Niesky

1814     transferred to Gnadenberg

1821     made member of the governing board of the brotherhood

Albertini's one claim to fame (well, two) is encouraging Schweinitz to pursue mycology, and co-authoring the Conspectus Fungorum with him. Dörfelt & Heklau actually go out of their way to mention that Albertini's actual level of input into the book is unknown, and that certainly all the substantive mycology was done by Schweinitz.

Humphrey mentions that it was by far the largest book on mushrooms published up until that time, and Schweinitz was later to top it with his (1821) Specimen florae Americae septentrionalis cryptogamicae, which listed over 3000 species of North American fungi.

This work covers 1130 taxa, of which 127 are new species declared by Schweinitz. This was the largest work on fungi at the time.
