From the date of his death, I had always assumed that he was executed in the French Revolution, but seems to be incorrect: Redhead (2001) says that he died in a hunting accident, and Dörfelt & Heklau just say that "his early death remains a mystery."
An attempt to give pictured definitions for Latin and French botanical terms. Mostly what it does for us now is show how firmly rooted these terms are in their original applications to vascular plants. I discuss this a bit in the entry on natural language.
I wonder how all these books kept coming out after Bulliard had been killed.
